What amazes me is Steve Solomon's rare ability to improvise these totally crazy yet somehow believable characters. Alot of telephone prank CD comics call OUT with pre-scripted, staged scenarios, but that's WAY too easy.Steve's calls are all telemarketers calling HIM! Very few phone comics do that. And I still don't know how he can make all these characters up on the spot.I tried it on a telemarketer myself and I sounded like an idiot. Steve's a very talented guy. Highly recommended!

I just finished listening to Steve Solomon's CD, "Who's Calling?" What a howl! The way he plays with telemarketers is just great. He does what I wish I could have done, ten minutes after my infuriating encounters are over. And he does it with such great style. He immediately slips into character and seizes control, and the hapless sales person is just sucked in like a fly into a spider's web. And there is no end to the characters he creates. He takes me back to the great humor of ethnic and social diversity of the early television comics, like Sid Caesar, Milton Berle, and Red Skelton. And, like them, it's predominantly ad lib as the situation progresses, or deteriorates, depending on what side of the conversation you relate to. It's very refreshing to get back to the intellectual humor of conversation, (as opposed to the long strings of profanity that pass for humor today), the kind that makes you appreciate Steve's play on words and his manipulation of the occasion. Steve's wit is as sharp as his insight, and everyone who has ever been frustrated by inane phone calls should get a copy of "Who's Calling?"
